In 1948 thirteen young women came together with a mission to raise money for local hospitals. Prior to the first meeting on February 10, 1948, Mr. Cargill of Jerome H. Cargill Producing Company met with Marguerite Neel who was the first President of the Junior Wenatchee Hospital Guild to outline his ideas for fundraising. After receiving permission from the Mayor of Wenatchee to stage the first Wenatchee Valley Follies Guild, committees were formed, advertisements were sold and the first Follies show was presented. The production was held at the Liberty Theater November 3 and 4, 1948.
The Follies show has been held every three years since the first Follies. The organization has raised over $500,000.00 for local charities. Over the years, the mission has changed from focusing entirely on hospital needs and broadened its giving to other deserving organizations.
Since 1948, The Wenatchee Valley Follies Guild, is a legacy group of women dedicated to service and raising funds to help non-profit charitable organizations, people and children in need in the Wenatchee Valley.
The Wenatchee Valley Follies Guild strives to enhance the health and welfare of the people residing in the Wenatchee Valley.
